We were so lucky to participate in the VA/BF hosted by the wonderful people at Project Space in Vancouver alongside one hundred Canadian and international independent art publishers. Salad Editor Madeline Weisburg was interviewed for an article by Project Space staff about artists' magazines and print publishing today:

School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

May, 2013

The exhibition, Products & Produce, was a weeklong installation at the SMFA in Boston and featured the first three issues of Salad , as well as related works by Rachel Deutsch, Coorain Devin, Grace Myers, and Madeline Weisburg. With this exhibition we sought to create an immersive and total Salad environment in which the commercial and domestic collided and intermingled. The installation was at once an extension of Salad's worldview and aesthetic sensibility. The viewer was able to luxuriate in a Salad living rooming, reading our magazine at their leisure, but yet ultimately everything in the room was for sale. The home is composed of objects that reflect one's identity to the outside world, and the Salad Shop gave viewers a glimpse of what life could be living the Salad lifestyle. Products & Produce also aimed to highlight the status of the artist as producer, featuring work that straddles the line between disposable mass-produced ephemera and precious fine art. Almost everything in the room was handmade or branded as Salad: from the most disposable items like bottled water, to the most permanent and labor-intensive like the couch that an editor of Salad personally reupholstered with silkscreened textiles.
